"Bad man nuh talk him just do"

Dear Readers,

Do not worry, this blog has not been hijacked by a patois speaking Jamaican lady. ^_^.

I remember being told this saying during my teenage years. I always thought to myself, why would anyone want to tell me this? I am not a bad man. LOL.

As I grew older, I discovered that the translated version of this saying is "Actions speak louder than words". In other words, if you think you are "bad" (bad being good) then go ahead and do it...


This saying popped into my head whilst re-reading a previous post on the lessons learned from Michaelmas 2012. This saying links indirectly to lesson 2; Be upfront (to the correct people) about your goals.

Why do we, as women spend a great deal of time speaking about what we are going to do?
Why don't we just go out there into the wider world and do whatever it is we said that we would do? 

I do wonder if it links to femininity.
Feminine women are stereotypically viewed as being meek, subordinate and unassuming. 









There are a number of examples of women (who I consider to be feminine), who have obtained their own goals and dreams without necessarily adhering to the stereotypical view of a feminine woman. Additionally, these women have created their own "brand" of unique femininity for others to follow.

The examples that spring to mind are:


Audrey Hepburn

Michelle Obama

The Duchess of Cambridge

Kerry Washington

Diana Ross.



These women are (were) serene and collected in their appearances and if they were 'normal' women it would be easy for one to dismiss them as being quiet. However, if one were to take a few moments to conduct research on these women it would be clear (as day) to see that these women believe(d) in actions speaking louder than words. They are leading by example rather than discussing their goals on a national platform. However, when they do speak their voices are (were) soft, full of clarity and notably feminine.

These women are well-known within their industries and the media however, they do not and have not revealed all the layers to their being. There is (was) still an element mystery to these women that we being outsiders are unlikely to discover.

I do believe that The Duchess of Cambridge will be a key feminine figure for the younger generations to look at (as if she doesn't have enough eyes on her already ^_^) as a young woman who has been given a platform to make changes in the world whilst being supported by her husband and family. We will not have to wait long to find out about The Duchess of Cambridge's hobbies and interests.

Audrey Hepburn, Michelle Obama, The Duchess of Cambridge, Kerry Washington and Diana Ross are role models to all TOTTies. They are (were) charitable, feminine and we are (were) truly blessed to see these women in their light taking part in the activities that they are (were) most passionate about. It is my opinion that these women are (were) world-class rather than middle class (average) and will continue to be remembered for generations to come.

It is unfair to say that these women have never discussed their future goals and plans with anyone. I would like to think that their future plans were discussed with the right people and only a select few who can be trusted with that information.

Let us TOTTies continue to uphold these women as shining examples of how to achieve your dreams and be feminine whilst doing so.
